Medical Benefits

Auto insurance comes with many options for the car owner to choose the package that fits their needs. All 50 states require that the owner carry medical and personal property coverage. The average medical benefits include bodily injury for people not riding in your vehicle at the time of the accident. Should you be at fault in an auto accident, medical car insurance will not cover yours or your passengers' injuries. However it may provide legal defense should the other driver sue for injuries and property damages, pain and suffering, as well as loss of income not covered by your insurance.

Setting your bodily injury limits too low can cause a serious loss to your property and assets should you be responsible for an accident. Should there be a court judgment against you and your insurance coverage is set too low, you could find yourself selling everything you own to pay the court-ordered settlement. This can include your home and car including your future net worth and your assets such as stocks and bonds. One accident can ruin your life and the lives of your family.

Medical benefits or bodily injury insurance will cover you and your passengers should you be involved in an accident where the other driver is at fault and does not carry the state required coverage. Medical car insurance will cover the injuries suffered by you and your passengers if the other driver is at fault and does not carry bodily injury insurance or does not carry enough insurance. Hit and run accidents would also be covered. Your medical car insurance would then cover you and your passengers but not the driver or passengers in the other vehicle.

An under insured motorist is someone who does not carry the state minimum insurance. Though he/she carries some insurance, if you are involved in an accident that is not your fault your bodily insurance will cover what the under insured motorist coverage will not cover until your benefit maximum is reached. At that point your health insurance will be required to cover your injuries.

An uninsured motorist is illegally operating a motor vehicle and should you be in an accident that is not your fault your bodily injury insurance will cover your injuries until the maximum is reached. At that point your health insurance will have to cover your injuries. Your insurance company will probably file a lawsuit against the at fault driver to recover expenses incurred by their careless driving.

Personal injury protection covers not only your injuries and those of your passengers should you be in an accident that is not your fault. It will also cover any funeral expenses for you or your passengers.
